Watch the demo video to see how easy it is to run video tracking experiments with BehaviorCloud. This video walks through how to record trials using the BehaviorCloud Camera app and how to upload existing video files. It also demonstrates how to automatically analyze animal activity and generate variables like distance traveled, velocity, zone latency, and more!
No expensive equipment or software required.

In a typical novel object recognition test, rodents are placed in an open field or cage containing two objects. During the first trial, the animal is allowed to freely explore an arena containing two identical objects. In the second trial, one of the objects is replaced by a novel object. Investigators then analyze the animal’s preference for the novel object during the second trial. Rodents, being naturally curious, will spend more time investigating the novel object compared to the familiar object. This novel object preference is used as an index of recognition memory.
BehaviorCloud automatically generates the distance and ambulatory time of your subjects, allowing for detailed analysis of their movements.
With BehaviorCloud, you can easily draw zones around each object and analyze how long an animal spends investigating within that designated area.
BehaviorCloud efficiently calculates the latency for each subject to first investigate each object, providing valuable insights into animal behavior.
To begin, stream or upload video to your BehaviorCloud account. This can be done by downloading the BehaviorCloud Camera app on any mobile device and starting the recording of the video. You can view your data in real-time and control trials from any internet-connected computer or from a second mobile device, eliminating the need for additional software. Alternatively, you can upload existing videos that have been recorded elsewhere.
Once your video is uploaded, run the automated video tracking analysis. Easily draw zones and automatically generate position and activity data such as distance traveled, latency, velocity, and time spent in zones. Export tracked videos and activity traces for publication with ease.
Lastly, BehaviorCloud allows you to invite collaborators to your experiments. These colleagues can contribute to data collection, analysis, or overseeing experiment progress. You can set permissions to allow collaborators read-only, read/write, or admin access, ensuring you always have control over your data.
